There are many different situations where a firearm may be used, and its very important to know
when, where and how to use them. People die or are seriosly injured every day because themselves or others didn't treat a
firearm the right way; with caution.
In one instance, a man, my stepfather, went out target practising one day. He shot three rounds
with a 38 special, a revolver, and didnt have any problems. On the first shot of his fourth round he noticed that the bullet
made a low clicking sound which was unusual compared to the deafining boom that it should have made. He thought nothing
of it and continued shooting. When he pulled the trigger of his next shot there was a deafening boom, but not a good one.
The gun exploded in his hands. the first shot that had sounded odd turned out to be a bullet that had gotten caught in the
barrel. the next shot hit the first causing the gun to explode. Not checking the gun when there could have been a problem
cost him three fingers.
The most important rule of gun safety is to check your firearm if you think there is something wrong because
there may be a major problem.

There are a few rules in gun safety that could
save a life if followed.
1. Always keep a gun unloaded when its not being used, someone could pick up a gun, not knowing it
was loaded, and somehow fire te gun causing someone to be injured. a gun can go off by itself too, if the gun were to fall
it could cause the hammer to hit the bullet shooting it.
2. When a gun is loaded but not presently being used keap the safety on to prevent the gun from firing
but a safety device is manmade and can fail.
3. Never piont a gun at something living unless you intend to kill it, even in a joke because the
gun could go off.
If these rules are followed, most of the accidents involving guns can be avoided.
